My Best Creations

Tackling the Scraparoundtheworld Mood Board

And here is my layout

I was drawn to the colors of the board.  To me the quote about creating a wonderful life made me think of the my kids. My life is filled with such happy memories and the best times are when I am with them. The dandelion like flower with pieces blowing away reminded me that they are now grown -- both with successful jobs, both engaged to be married and living away from home.

Weekend at the Lake

As we were at the lake this weekend, I realized I had photos from June that i had not scrapped yet.

I found this wonderful sketch on PaperSecrets

There was a twist and that was to use each of the letters in the word travel.

Here is my layout

I used Tim Holtz stencil, rays, anchors, vellum, envelope and layers.

PCC Monday Inspiration

I love this week's inspiration at PCC

I wanted to make an umbrella - something I don't think I have ever done.

I used it for this card.

Picture Perfect Day

As many of you know, my sisters and I have a tradition. Every time we get together we take photos of us and us with our mom. This year was no exception. The lake is in the background and, as always, we are in birth order:) I am the shortest and the oldest!

I used this for two challenges at Stucksketches

We had fun on the 4th with the sparklers my sister brought. They were different than the ones we normally have. It was chilly and she is wearing her winter hat:)

I was inspired by the SWAT mood board - the res, the lettering and the stars.

I also used this sketch from LetsGetSketchy

I need to practice

I felt like painting tonight so here is what I did.

I played with watercolors and this was inspired by the Frugalcrafter's Beach rose. I did mine away from the computer so it is not identical but I was inspired by her lesson.

PCC Magazine Monday

Every week PCC has a Magazine Monday inspiration. Here is this week's

And here is my card
I was inspired by the colored blocks behind the letters. I used black as an accent color.

Happy Birthday

I am proud to announce and share another Guest Designer Layout for SketchNScrap. Here is the mid month Sketch --

Celebrating birthdays is fun whether you are 6 or 26!

For Rob's birthday this year we ended up at a small, authentic Mexican restaurant in Petoskey. The decor was vivid and fun and the staff was very sweet. After a wonderful dinner, we decided to buy Rob a shot for his birthday. The waiter brought two and would not charge us for them. He also insisted Rob borrow the sombrero for photos!

I added sequins, punched circles and paint dots to the circle and used flowers for my clusters.

I want to thank SketchNScrap for this wonderful opportunity to preview their sketches!! I hope you visit their blog and play along!!

An online friend (Sandee) pointed the rest of our group to an Art Academy put on by Derwent. It included 6 lessons with videos and HOMEWORK! You had to pass one level before moving to the next. AT the end was a certificate and a nice prize!

I chose the Inktense Set. You apply the dry color then wash with water for an ink like effect. I found some cool videos on how to use them and gave it a go for a thank you card to send to Derwent.

I need much more practice but I think this looks pretty good.

Here is  Sketch #60
And here is my layout

This sketch was just perfect for scrapping Jennifer's recent wedding shower. I was able to use 3 wonderful photos! And I love the tilted and layered papers. I chose hearts for my embellishments and created a cluster on the left.

I hope you will join in the fun at SketchNscrap!

Thank you for stopping by!
