Here is my layout

The flowers reminded me of the outdoors and how Bandit loves to go for hikes and swim in the lake! At 13 1/2 we treasure our time with him!

Watercolor

Yes, I have done a bit of watercolor painting. My friend, Sandee and I are part of a facebook group, Mixing It up. Some of the members have been completing a watercolor a day.  AS you know I struggle with painting - my twin sister got that gene. But last year I took a watercolor class and now with Sandee's  forcing, pushing, prodding, encouragement I did play. Here is one of my faves

Our lilacs are in full bloom and just smell divine. I had fun with this one.

I dug out an OLD photo of Jen! I had so much fun remembering this dress and that rabbit she was carrying. I still have both of those!

This was Rob and Beth on Mother's Day when we were hiking in the woods looking for Morel Mushrooms.

Color Suite and a Sketch

Every month Srapbook and Cards has a Color Suite challenge. Here is this month's

I also saw this sketch over at StuckSketches

I was drawn to the colors and thought this would be fun to play with. I rummaged through my stash and came up with this Webster's Pages paper.

I dug out old photos of Rob enjoying the beach at Daytona. This was in 1995. He was actually afraid of sharks in the water and would not go out very far. I added layers of washi tape and chipboard embellies. I added shells which I have had for some time.

I am Up

I am up Saturday on the Frosted Designs Blog. I used the  Simply Sweet Kit to document the Simply sweet weekend my husband and daughter had.

When Jen was in middle school, she and her dad went to Phantom of the Opera. It was a wonderful time for them. A while back they made a pledge to see it again before she ever gets married. Well, she was engaged in October and the wedding is in September so we knew we needed to squeeze this in. Jen was traveling to Philadelphia for a conference and as luck would have it, Phantom was playing there. Her dad flew down to meet her and they again took in the show. They enjoyed their balcony box seats and yes, Her dad did sing along. It was another magical night for them.

I used the packaging from the Prima flowers and a tag to make a mini album which has my journaling, the tickets and the theater diagram.

Art Journaling

There is a challenge over at  My Sweet Earth with Susan Weckesser. Here is the board

The challenge is to look for beauty each day. I am sure there are days where I am rushing around and forget to look at the gorgeous sunrise or the new flowers starting to bloom. So my art journal page is a reminder to look at the Beauty Around Me

Refelcted in the eye is the beautiful sky and pretty  lowers. I need to take a moment each day to see the beauty!

Scrap Around the World

I don't know about you but I am a little intimidated when I look at the work on Scrap Around the World. There are such amazing projects and all seem like nothing I could ever accomplish.




This month's challenge on Scrap Around the World is open to new entries as well as past winners. It is time to stop being afraid and to put my work out there!

And just how was I inspired??  "There is so much to celebrate" with Jen and Shawn  getting married in less than 6 months!  We will celebrate the love they have and the joy he has brought to her life. Her wedding colors include a pale pink and dark red so these colors were perfect!!

Jen had just sent me a new photo of her and Shawn so I decided to create a scrap canvas. I used all my mixed media supplies but treated it like a scrapbook page.

When I was in middle/high school, I remember doodling  intersecting boxes. I used that as the basis for my page. I built layers using different colors. I added washi tape which I also painted over. Stamps and stenciling with modeling paste added to the background. My balloons are chipboard as well as painted.

there is so much to celebrate and that includes the joy this piece gives me!

The Story

When Jen and Shawn were here in March, one of the things on the to do list was pick out a tux for the wedding. As often happens, our entire family went along and turned it into a party. From the moment we entered the store until we left, we laughed, joked, made fun of and had a blast together. These are the moments that mean so much to me as the mom. I don't know if Shawn realizes what he has gotten himself into!

I Need to Change My Attitude

I love to play with paint! However I beat myself up about my work being good enough. So guess what! I am playing in my journal and this is just for me! It does not have to meet a certain standard or be as good as some one else's!
