Today I am the Guest Designer over at StickitDown. This website offers card and layout sketches every month! It is a great place to go when  you need inspiration!

This is the August sketch I was sent to work with

And, here is my layout

It reminded me of the hikes we took in Phoenix during the winter. Love exploring the new landscape and seeing the many different cactus plants. As you can see i changed the shapes to triangles and added a third photo. That is the fun of sketches you can change and adapt it to make it your own.

Thank you StickitDown for this opportunity an d I encourage you to check out their sketches!

Hot hot hot

Welcome from sunny and hot Phoenix!! They broke a record yesterday hitting 118!

I have been completing lots of art projects —- with my 3 year old granddaughter.  We went outside and water painted using found items.

Of course, as usual hers eventually turned into a finger painting.

We also did a smoosh painting because she applied too much paint๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Lots of messy fun here!

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your kind words.

Catching up

We were at the lake for a few days. Had fun boating, fishing and seeing my twin sister.

This week is all about the butterfly! A couple of different ones.

I was also inspired by a gorgeous sunset.

I am heading to spend a few weeks with the grandkids. I will bring my supplies but I may not have any time to use them. I might be too tired by the time I fall into bed:)

New Computer

My computer died a week an d a half ago so I have been anxiously awaiting the new one. Luckily my son is Tech Support so he got me all set up and I am now good to go. Luckily nothing was lost!

It has been a busy week as I continue to experiment and play. I have watched some wonderful Youtube videos which have helped me a lot. And I am now on a quest for a fun brush I saw which I think will help me a lot. It is referred to as a Cat Tongue.

And then something different - a watercolor goauche ATC for the theme destinations. This is Arizona where the grandkids are:)

Adding this to PaintPartyfriday. Please go there and visit the many wonderful artists!

Wishing everyone a safe and healthy weekend!

End of the week

As I sit here listening to storms, I have realized it is the end of another week. The rain is a welcome change from the scorching heat we have been having in Michigan.

I have enjoyed some time this week playing with paints. When I started moving from scrapbooking to mixed media and now to watercolors, I did so without any classes or lessons. I have realized I have no idea what I am doing g๐Ÿ˜€ this week I have watched a couple of videos and painted along with the artists. I am beginning to learn and understand watercolor paints better. I still have a long ways to go but I am learning.

Here are a few of my creations from this week.

With each one I have learned something new and feel a little bit better about grabbing that new piece of paper.

Be sure to stop over there and visit the amazing artists!!

And I hank you for visiting and for your kind words. I appreciate them more than you know.

On A Roll

I am on a roll with getting some layouts accomplished!

My granddaughter recently turned 3 and while I thought she looked like her mom, I need to get out an old photo to prove it.

She does!

Same nose and smile for sure!

In Her Easter Outfits

My granddaughter had not one, not two, not three but four Easter outfits. A friend who always buys her clothes for the holidays had gotten two but forgot where she put them so got her two more. I made sure Lauren wore each of them during the day. Sadly 3 years old grow so much that it would be impossible to save them for the next year.

I was inspired by this sketch from Stickitdown

I chose to put all 4 photos together closer to the bottom of the page.

Happy Friday

Welcome to Friday and another weekend! Summer has moved into Michigan with temps very close to 90 today.

I spent a bit of time this week painting cards. Jumped on the bunny bandwagon,. He is so cute! My flamingo is not yet finished.

I did also work on more flowers.

Still working on layering and letting the pieces dry before I add more paint.

I am feeling pretty good about these.

I am adding this to PaintPartyFriday  and encourage you to visit the artists who post links over there.

I wish everyone a safe and healthy weekend! Be sure to wear those masks and social distance!

Up & Down

My granddaughter finally chose an animal to ride on the carousel that went up and down. Last year she graduated from the bench to the animal that did not go up and down to one that did.

After the Rain

So my husband decided that this was a good week to get a truck full of mulch and work on the landscape beds. We had been hauling and spreading for several days now. Last night we were interrupted by a lovely thunderstorm and after which was this

There was even a double one.

I never tire of looking at rainbows.

When I wasn't mulching, I was working with my paints. I am just not a natural and have to work and experiment and play.

This is an old canvas that I painted over. I used a baby wipe and acrylics to make the circle shapes. It is large 18 x 24. I think I may be painting over it again:)

I bought a different brand of watercolor cards and was playing with those. Not so much a fan but I figured out a way to make them work. This purple card is headed in the right direction.

Still working with the blue one too.

We are supposed to have another show/sale in August so I need to build up my supply of cards. I am still not sure if I will participate. It will depend on how the virus is acting at that point.

I wish everyone a fun and relaxing weekend!

Thank you so much for your visit and kind words. Adding this to PaintPartyFriday!

Happy Friday! (Yes, in case you didn't know what day it is).

Going to be another warm and muggy day here in Michigan. I might just have to stay in and be creative.

I have been trying to spend a bit of time each day painting. Just experimenting and trying to learn more.

Here are a couple I did.

This is a small watercolor which reminds me of the beaches and dunes in Michigan

The next one is a very loose flower. I was trying a different paper which I don't think I like:)

This last was an experiment with Gouche. I put the paint on an acrylic block and stamped it. I added circles by stamping with the end of a paper towel roll.

Adding this to PaintpartyFriday! I love visiting the blogs who participate to see what other artists are doing!

I want to thank each of you for your kind and encouraging words. They mean the world to me!

Have a safe and happy weekend!!

Happy Friday!

How can it be Friday already? How can it be the end of May already!

My goodness! Wish we could slow things down.

We have been back from out west for two weeks now. It took me a week to cleanout and organize my supplies. I brought back quite a bit and had to get everything put away. How could i possibly bring back more than i took? I don't know but I think I did:):)

The desk is quite clean now so gave me a chance to play.

I had a couple of new fluid acrylics that I wanted to experiment with. While out west, I also watched an artists use a credit card to paint with. This card is me trying painting with fluid acrylics using a credit card. I kind of like it.

Last year I completed a set of alphabet cards for my granddaughter. I painted the letter and an animal on postcards and mailed them to her. We decided I should make a set of numbers so I finished those and am mailing them to my one year old grandson.

I used  sketch #170 from SketchNScrap

Have a great rest of the weekend!

But first, coffee!!

I had finished drinking my coffee but there was a little left which was perfect for painting this coffee themed card. Adding it to Coffeelovingcardmakers spring hop.

Welcome to Friday

Please tell me I am not the only one who doesn't know what day of the week it is?!? I have to look at my phone every day for confirmation:)

Well, it is Friday and I am back with another check in for PaintPartyFriday.

We are home from being out west and once I finished getting my art/scrap/creative room put back together, I able to sit down and paint. I needed a couple of thank you notes so I got out the watercolors. I have seen an example of a card where they cut the painting into strips so tried that with the blue flwoers.

And, this cactus was painted just using lines.

I had fun with both of them.

This week I also was able to complete a scrapbook layout of our Covid 19 porch photo. A photographer was offering free photos of families on their porch so we asked him to take one of us.

I used older papers that I had and added extra paint splatters and more. This was a fun one to create.

I hope everyone enjoys a safe and healthy Memorial Day weekend. This year is just flying by!

Be sure to stop over at PaintPartyFriday for amazing inspiration!
