Happy New Year

As usual the holidays are passing by in a flash. We spent time with our daughter, son in law and 8 month old granddaughter. What fun to introduce a new child to the wonders of the season! Except for two glitches - Bass Pro shops does not advertise that you need to get a ticket to see Santa ahead of time and, as a result, he was booked. And, the other grandmother managed to get everyone in the house sick including the baby. Sadly we had to leave shortly after they brought her home from the doctor where she tested positive for the flu. We have been sick in bed since we got home Thursday evening. I am hoping to feel a bit better today to get some things accomplished.

So with all of that being said, I have not had much time nor energy for painting. I have been dabbling with some watercolors this morning. I am looking for a style that is just kind of outlines with blocks of color - if that makes sense.

I have more work to do but this is a start, Just some ideas for cards and such.

Thank you for stopping by! I am off to rest again for a while.

PPF

I have been playing along with PaintPartyFriday. I love visiting the different bloggers and seeing their inspiring works!

Here is my work this week. It is a watercolor card with some stamping. I also tried the blowing technique. I think I achieved the look I was going for.

Thank you for visiting! I I hope you are enjoying a Saturday filled with family and friends!

Handmade Christmas Gifts

I saw this post on ThinkCrafts for no sew blanket scarves. Being the crafter I am, I thought "I can do that". The local fabric store was amazing in helping me find the correct fabric and I got busy!

Well, I made 6 scarves for gifts! These were fun and easy to do!

I made a larger one for my mom who is in a nursing home. The others are more regular scarf size. I highly recommend this project! Thank you ThinkCrafts  for this idea!!

Wishing you a happy hump day!! Thank you for visiting!

Sparkle Like a Snowman

Today I am here with a little snowman card that was inspired by the FrugalCrafter .

Using this wonderful Smiling Snowman Set from Stampendous, I made a snowman to sit in front of my background!

Adding this to Simonsays Christmas card Day.

As I type this, I am watching the snow falling. Looks like another snowy day in Michigan! '

Thank you for visiting my neck of the woods and for your kind words!

34 Candles

My daughter's birthday is December 6. We were discussing the need for a cake smash when her baby turns 1 in April. This caused  my daughter to realized that she had never gotten a cake smash. She and her husband both vowed to have cake smashes for their birthdays this year. His was in November and hers was just a week ago. They did cupcakes instead of cake but had fun anyway! I am glad my daughter has now had a cake smash!

I knew right away this sketch from Stuck would be perfect!

I cut 34 strips of paper for my base. And added flames to some for candles.

My apologies for the pink photos! My printer is acting up and I have not had time to get new cartridges.

Thank you for visiting and for your kind words!

O Christmas Tree

You know how you go to craft show/sales and say "I could do that". Well, I finally did it. My friend and I had seen book paper trees which ran about $20. After looking at what they were made of, we thought this is one thing we could pull off.

I used shish kabob skewers for the stem, Shakespeare book paper, old buttons and ribbon. The base is a wood spool painted gold and glued to a coaster that I covered with Christmas paper.

The lowest papers are about 4 inches and the smallest 1 inch. I used 5 per grouping and fanned them out. I used cardboard between the layers. The ones we had seen used corks but I did not have enough.
I am still working on getting them not to lean but I think they came out quite good. I will add them to my Christmas decor when I get that all out.

Thank you for letting me share. I hope you are enjoying this sunny Sunday!

It's a Bird

Ok - bear with me as I catch up on my scrapping!

I got to be with my granddaughter for her first Halloween! We had fun putting on her costume which my daughter had gotten months earlier!

LJ was Supergirl! Let me tell you - for babies, a onesie with a cape is all they need!

I flipped this sketch from StuckSketches upside down.

Thank you for letting me share another layout of the sweet baby!

Our Little Pumpkin

I was lucky enough to spend Halloween with my granddaughter. The church down the block set up an amazing little pumpkin patch and I was excited for us to go visit it. Lauren was good until we tried to stand her in the straw in her bare feet. She freaked out:) So much for getting those wonderful pumpkin photos I wanted. But, I managed to get quite a few of Our Little Pumpkin!

I used a sketch from Stickitdown

I chose to print all the photos on one piece of paper. The strips at the bottom are the straw that she didn't like.

Face is blurred to respect her mom's wishes not to have her photograph online.

Lots of G45 here!

Thanks for visiting! I appreciate your kind words!

Work in Progress

Trying something different --- again:)

I had a canvas that started as a mixed media piece. I painted over it and just kept adding until I got this.
Not sure where to go from here. They flowers have several layers of paint as well as white pen and I even scratched some of the lines in.

What should i do next? I feel it needs some white somewhere. Splatters? More stamping or stencils? I would appreciate any ideas!!!
I might have to get another photo in the morning as the colors are a bit off here.

Thank you so much for visiting and for your comments! Really - leave me your ideas!!

Mom

I am up today over at the Helmar Blog and would love for you to check out my project!

My mom recently went to a nursing home and while it is nice, it is just not homey. So I made a frame for her with some pictures that I know mean a lot to her.

My mom was thrilled when she saw this and it is now hanging in her room!

A little time for watercolors

I am participating with Grumbacher's ATC Swap titled Winter Wonderland.

Here is my scene

I am still learning to use my watercolors and to be patient! I want to keep going instead of letting them dry.

I'm Back

I am back from spending 2 1/2 weeks with my granddaughter. I miss her giggles, her exploring the world and being exhausted:):) It is hard work chasing a 7 month old who is crawling all over, trying to walk and into everything. She has the most gorgeous nails - just like her mom.

I needed to make a couple of thank you cards.

I am in love with this new stencil I got From Stamplorations! Stayed tuned because I will be giving one of these away before the holidays!!

Adding this to Simonsays Monday Challenge - thanks.

Thank you

I tried something different with this card. I used Bo Bunny Stencil paste with a circle stencil. Once dry, I went over the circles with Gelatos, wetting it a bit to blend. I stamped over the circles with Altenew's Doodle Flower Stamp. Added leaves and a sentiment.

Welcome to the World

Heading out today to visit my 6 month old granddaughter.

Before i go, I finished a layout of her entry into this world. It did not go as planned. After a day of labor, my daughter ended up having a C section. Hard to believe this sweet thing is already 6 months old!!!

Let's Be Mermaids

My 6 month old granddaughter loves the pool! Just like with everything else, she has no fear. She kicks and splashes and is ready to take off.

For this layout, I turned her into a mermaid. Loving Bo Bunny Down by the Sea collection!!

Thinking of you

Needed to send a card to someone in the hospital. I used pattern paper for the backgound. The flowers are stamped and painted on watercolor paper. Something a little different.

WIP

I am heading out this week to spend time with my 6 month old granddaughter. That means I am trying to finish up and work ahead before I go. I have a show/sale with my art group the weekend after I get back. This is a work in progress card. Needs to be finished with a sentiment and maybe some bows or something.

I did decide that I did not like the paper I am using for these. It is not working as well with the watercolors as I thought it would. Oh well. Live and learn:)

Thank you for visiting on this rainy Saturday! I hope it is sunny where you are!

When I saw this white brush, I knew right away what I wanted to create. I started by
painting the brush red. Can you guess where this is going? I added batting and evergreen for Santa's hat. Of course, Santa needed a face. Buttons were perfect for his eyes and his cherry nose is a red pom pom. I fashioned eye glasses from a piece of wire. The last addition was a tag created with a flower and a variety of smaller tags.

I used Helmar Premium Craft Glue to put the tag together and for the buttons and pom pom on his face. This glue dries quickly and clearly. And, I know the embellishments won't fall off in a few weeks.

This will be the perfect addition to my wreath!

What do you think? Are you ready to grab a paintbrush and get to work?
