Last minute cards for friends

I decided to make a few last minute cards for online friends. Each one is different and I had fun with them.

I should be packing as we leave Sunday to head out west for the winter. Maybe I will get to that later today.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend!

All Caught Up?

The barn sale where I have my cards and ornaments starts today. She hosted a preview party Wednesday. I was there and enjoyed seeing a few people buying my cards and ornaments! I am hoping to do well today and tomorrow.

I have cleaned the house and addressed all of my cards. The annual Christmas letter is almost done. I only need to buy gifts for my son. He has not given me a list so he may just get gift cards:):)

All of this means, I am caught up:):)

So why not get out some paints and make a new mess on the desk. I had an idea in my head, something I have seen in a lot of watercolors. I have lots of acrylic paints I never use, so I got them out. I put a generous coat of greens on the background and then used a cut off fan brush to paint the trees. While it isn't a masterpiece, I had fun. I am trying to explore and see what else I can do:)

I might just get out more paints this weekend and keep playing!

Wishing you a healthy and happy weekend!

The day after

It is the day after Thanksgiving. It was just the two of us so I didn't overload on food. We just had a repeat for lunch:) Tonight is pizza.

I have all of my wood ornaments, canvas ornaments and card finished for next week's sale. Fingers crossed it is a good one.

I did play with acrylic paint instead of watercolors. I followed You tube tutorials from SurajFine Arts.

He uses palette knives for much of the work instead of brushes. I also only had liquid paint which is more difficult for this technique.

But, i had fun and will definitely try this again!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful relaxing and healthy weekend.

Good Friday morning

Here we are at the end of another week.

This week has been all about cards:) Winter/holiday cards for the upcoming show.

I have learned to work on many cards at once. That way they can be drying and I tend to get better layers.

I still have many more to make but I have until the end of November.

We will be heading north to the cottage to finish putting everything away for the season. My sister had 6 inches of snow up there earlier this week.

Rainy Friday

My husband is off visiting the grandkids for the week so I am having lots of time to paint! I am still working on ornaments. I bought a second batch as the show I am in wanted even more:) I also worked on a few cards.

This is a card I did. I like how it turned out and might do a few more.

And a few more ornaments. I will have 60 when I am finished.

It is a rainy day which means I cannot get out for a walk as I hoped. So, in the meantime, back to painting!

Fall is here

Where we are in Michigan, we have gone from summer to fall. Earlier this week it was in the 80s. Today it barley made 50. The leaves have not been changing as they normally do and the rain and wind have already knocked a lot off.

It is good weather to stay in and create! This week I was working on mixed media canvas ornaments. Here is a sampling of them. I have more blank canvases arriving tomorrow so hope to get even more done.

We had dinner with friends last weekend, and she bought pumpkins for all of us to carve. I went with an art  theme -- The Scream.

Some of the changes happening to the trees on our street.

Another week in the books

Happy Friday. In Michigan we finally left summer for fall. Temps were 80 on Monday and today a more seasonable 60. Leaves are turning but the rain is making them fall too fast.

I have been painting more ornaments.

And i got some new acrylic paints from Sizart. These paints are thick and blend nicely.

I tried painting something other than flowers. It needs more but I am not sure what. Any suggestions?

A new project

There is an art show in December that I hope to be a part of. I have been busy painting ornaments to sell.

I am using wood discs and painting them with watercolor, acrylics, Unicorrn Spit and more. Trying to make a variety.

Last week I was with the grandkids and we had to do more hand/footprint art for their walls. Here are our latest

They always giggle and laugh when we paint their feet! I hope we can continue this tradition for many years.

Good Morning

Fall has arrived with a vengeance in Michigan. Temps dropped and we had tons of rain. However we have a nice week coming up with temps in the 70s. The leaves are starting to turn. This is my favorite time of year!

I have had a chance to do some scrapbooking and a bit of painting.

My grandkids have birthdays about 5 weeks apart and last year we celebrated them together. Reilly was 2 Cool and Lauren was UnFOURgettable.

Here are a couple of mixed media canvases. Love using so many of the supplies I have for these.

Thank You

I need to thank all of you for the lovely comments on my art! And, I want to thank all of the customers who purchased something. I had a banner day -  selling probably 40 cards, a couple of original paintings and a canvas. The art group had its best show ever!

I will need to start painting for the next show but that is not until November so I have some time.

In the meantime, I scrapped! It seems like it has been so long since I did that.

My grandson does not go anywhere without a handful of trains. The floor is filled with endless stretches of track. My granddaughter collects babies, he collects trains:)

This paper from Echo Park was just perfect! And the chipboard trains look just like his!

Here's to the Weekend

Congratulations everyone! You made it to Friday!

We enjoyed a few days at the cottage last weekend. Believe it or not, a few trees are starting to turn! I love the mist on the lake first thing in the morning!

I spent the rest of the week for the big Art Group sale tomorrow. I have original pieces, cards, canvases and more.

I think I am ready except for gathering a few miscellaneous supplies today.

I did finish this pumpkin. I struggled a bit  with it but think it is done.

Friday again

Here we are at Friday once again. Had another busy week subbing at school. The kids are settling in and getting used to the routines. I have not had a lot of time to get ready for next week's art show. That is on the agenda for this week.

I have been on a birch tree kick

Hoping these will do well at the sale:)

It's the Weekend!!

What a week1 School started and they called me to sub as a classroom aide, playground aide, and just extra hands all over. I was there all day Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday they had early dismissal due to the excessive heat and humidity here. I spent the majority of my day with those little 5 and 6 year olds, who wore me out:):) But, they are such cuties.

By the time I got home, I had little energy to paint!

I do have a sale with the art group in 2 weeks so was busy getting more cards made and paintings packaged.

Happy Friday!

The dog days of summer are in full swing in Michigan. We have very high temps and humidity which make it difficult to spend much time outside.

The art group has a show in September so I am preparing cards and pieces for that.

I have been playing with a new set of paints - Paul Rubens Pearlescent Watercolors.(#paulrubens) (@paulrubensart) This set arrives in a lovely pink box with a pink chamois and a pink tin. The colors are so vibrant and glittery. There are yellows, pinks, greens, blues and other metallic colors. These work well on both black and white papers.

The leaf painting I did using my regular watercolors and added the Paul Rubens gold over the leaves

These were done just with the Pearlescent set. Love the shimmer and shine.

I was also playing with masking fluid.

I have made a good dent on getting ready for the show.
