Another week in the books

Happy Friday. In Michigan we finally left summer for fall. Temps were 80 on Monday and today a more seasonable 60. Leaves are turning but the rain is making them fall too fast.

I have been painting more ornaments.

And i got some new acrylic paints from Sizart. These paints are thick and blend nicely.

I tried painting something other than flowers. It needs more but I am not sure what. Any suggestions?

A new project

There is an art show in December that I hope to be a part of. I have been busy painting ornaments to sell.

I am using wood discs and painting them with watercolor, acrylics, Unicorrn Spit and more. Trying to make a variety.

Last week I was with the grandkids and we had to do more hand/footprint art for their walls. Here are our latest

They always giggle and laugh when we paint their feet! I hope we can continue this tradition for many years.

Good Morning

Fall has arrived with a vengeance in Michigan. Temps dropped and we had tons of rain. However we have a nice week coming up with temps in the 70s. The leaves are starting to turn. This is my favorite time of year!

I have had a chance to do some scrapbooking and a bit of painting.

My grandkids have birthdays about 5 weeks apart and last year we celebrated them together. Reilly was 2 Cool and Lauren was UnFOURgettable.

Here are a couple of mixed media canvases. Love using so many of the supplies I have for these.

Thank You

I need to thank all of you for the lovely comments on my art! And, I want to thank all of the customers who purchased something. I had a banner day -  selling probably 40 cards, a couple of original paintings and a canvas. The art group had its best show ever!

I will need to start painting for the next show but that is not until November so I have some time.

In the meantime, I scrapped! It seems like it has been so long since I did that.

My grandson does not go anywhere without a handful of trains. The floor is filled with endless stretches of track. My granddaughter collects babies, he collects trains:)

This paper from Echo Park was just perfect! And the chipboard trains look just like his!

Here's to the Weekend

Congratulations everyone! You made it to Friday!

We enjoyed a few days at the cottage last weekend. Believe it or not, a few trees are starting to turn! I love the mist on the lake first thing in the morning!

I spent the rest of the week for the big Art Group sale tomorrow. I have original pieces, cards, canvases and more.

I think I am ready except for gathering a few miscellaneous supplies today.

I did finish this pumpkin. I struggled a bit  with it but think it is done.

Friday again

Here we are at Friday once again. Had another busy week subbing at school. The kids are settling in and getting used to the routines. I have not had a lot of time to get ready for next week's art show. That is on the agenda for this week.

I have been on a birch tree kick

Hoping these will do well at the sale:)

It's the Weekend!!

What a week1 School started and they called me to sub as a classroom aide, playground aide, and just extra hands all over. I was there all day Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday they had early dismissal due to the excessive heat and humidity here. I spent the majority of my day with those little 5 and 6 year olds, who wore me out:):) But, they are such cuties.

By the time I got home, I had little energy to paint!

I do have a sale with the art group in 2 weeks so was busy getting more cards made and paintings packaged.

Happy Friday!

The dog days of summer are in full swing in Michigan. We have very high temps and humidity which make it difficult to spend much time outside.

The art group has a show in September so I am preparing cards and pieces for that.

I have been playing with a new set of paints - Paul Rubens Pearlescent Watercolors.(#paulrubens) (@paulrubensart) This set arrives in a lovely pink box with a pink chamois and a pink tin. The colors are so vibrant and glittery. There are yellows, pinks, greens, blues and other metallic colors. These work well on both black and white papers.

The leaf painting I did using my regular watercolors and added the Paul Rubens gold over the leaves

These were done just with the Pearlescent set. Love the shimmer and shine.

I was also playing with masking fluid.

I have made a good dent on getting ready for the show.

And they are gone!

It was a whirlwind of a week and now it is over. My granddaughter cried when she was thinking about going home, cried at the airport and cried when she got home. Gotta love a 4 year old.

She was so excited to be in the garden and picked everything she could.

Can never get enough of the sand and water
Once he figured out life jackets weren't so bad, everyone enjoyed boat rides.

My brush was quite still all that time.

But I did create this paining using #PaulRubens paints. So shimmery!

I have a show/sale in a few weeks so need to get busy!

I am a bit late but adding this to PaintpartyFriday! Please check out the very talented artists!

Have a safe and healthy week! Thank you for visiting and for your kind words.

They are Here

Well, the grandkids made it here from Phoenix. We weren't sure how the 2ish one would do and he started off screaming on the plane because he did not want to be in a car seat. So they ditched it and he and his sister did pretty well on the rest of the flight. Sadly, they told my daughter the car seat would be with the checked luggage. It wasn't and of course, she could not get back down to the gate. The flight got in at 10:38 pm and we finally got her car seat shortly after midnight. There was an issue with staffing and getting maintenance and then it got stuck down on the conveyor. But we finally were able to head to my house. My 4 year old granddaughter ran around exploring until 1:45 am when she finally crashed.

I have all sorts of toys that were my kids and about 6 boxes have been opened since they got here. Stuffed animals and barbies. Car parking garage and castle. It is all over the house:):)

I have not have any time to pull out a paintbrush since they arrived. I did these earlier in the week.

I played with masking fluid and letting color run.

This was for an 80s ATC swap.

July is flying by!

My goodness! This month is just flying by!!

We got a nice reprieve today with temps being in the 70s. Was perfect for getting out for a walk. I spotted a garage sale sign on the street behind ours and stopped to investigate. My grandkids are arriving Thursday for vacation and I had been looking for a stroller to borrow. Well, there was a free one at this sale! I was quite excited and we brought it home. I was able to borrow a car seat, so other than stocking up on the food requested by the 4 year old - we are ready!

I had a friend over Tuesday to play with watercolors. We completed a couple of Andrew Geeson You tube tutorials.

I like my version of Purple Blast. Very different than my normal style.

These were not based on any tutorials. The blue leaves have gold as well.

Saw something like this on pinterest. I used charcoal pencil on the watercolor.

So it was a good week for art.

Friday!

Here we are to Friday again. I don't know about you but I have a difficult time keeping track of the days. Thank goodness I have my phone to remind me:)

even though I got home from Phoenix late last Sunday night, I have not had much time to paint. There was catching up on emails, grocery shopping, cleaning. And then we headed up to the cottage on Wednesday.

Last week's challenge at Watercolors Beginners and beyond on Facebook was Tinyart. I got these two completed. They are about 1 inch by 1 inch.

Our garden is beginning to bear fruit or in this case veggies! My husband has been brining in carrots, radishes, peas and more. I completed this card for a friend.

Thank you for visiting me today! Wishing you a safe and healthy weekend.

TGIF

Taking time to visit the grandkids. At ages 2 and 4, I don’t get much time to my self.  However, we started when they were both making hand and footprint art.  This is th elate at for the 2 year old.  He LOVES trains.

Here is a quick birthday card I made for my son before I left.

Wishing all of you a safe and healthy weekend. We are just trying to stay cool here where temps are in triple digits!!
