No Ordinary Paper

This month's theme over at Mixing it Up Everyday is Fantasy. That is not something that is normally a part of my wheelhouse! But, that is what this is all about - stretching and growing.

I found this piece of wonderful paper in my stash - it is sort of mulberry but with threads of gold and other fibers in it. The wrinkles and texture did not bother me at all.  The color palette was perfect!  I made a fairy complete with wings and elf boots. I added glitter for fairy dust.

Fun Fact: The wedding ring goes on the left ring finger because it is the only finger with a vein that connects to the heart!

Play

Had time today for a little art journal play!

My inspiration came from PCC 109 Monday Magazine Challenge

Just loving the orange and blues! I did not have any vintagy papers so I painted instead focusing on the colors.

I had fun playing with My Dylusions paints and Dina Wakely Stamps!

Flower inspired byt TracyWienzapfel Studios MMM last week.

It felt good to just get my hands dirty! Our guests are now gone so I can make all the messes I want:)

Fun Fact! Today is National Merry Go Round Day!

So go out and celebrate!

Buried Treasure

I am joining in Seth Apter's Buried Treasure Hunt!

Everyone is re posting one of their favorite posts -  - it can be new or old but one the blogger absolutely loves.

For this I chose a recent post but the piece is one of my faves!!

Just last week I posted about getting messy. I had fun creating a canvas based on a watercolor I was working on. I used paper scraps, Paint, Gelatos, Modeling Paste, Rub ons, Stencils, stamps, etc. I got messy creating the colorful background using my fingers!  The dress was painted on book text and the idea was actually taken from a water color painting I was working on. This is now proudly displayed in the front hallway on the piano.

Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful hunt! I would love for you to follow me and sign up for my emails. I appreciate your stopping by and leaving comments!

Fun Fact:   Bob Ross was a Master Sergent in the US Airforce. He was required to be “mean and tough,” to be “the guy who scream at you for being late to work.” After 20 years he left the military and decided “he would never scream again.” 3 years later he started “The Joy of Painting”.

Thank You

Creating another thank you card using a new Die-Namites die. I actually cut it out twice once on the striped paper and the second time with the tan. Then I inlayed the tan on the striped and backed it. I like the look!

Altered Frame

I found an inexpensive frame at Good Will and thought it would be fun to alter it for the newlyweds. It was basically an off white with a large center for a photo.

First I applied a layer of gesso using a stencil.

After a light layer of paint, I sanded to reveal the pattern. There is also a layer  of stamping. Embellishments include hydrangeas and birds  - both the bride's favorites.  I used burlap and twine which were also part of the wedding decor.

(I do apologize for the faint stripes in the photo. My printer was running out of ink)

Thank you for visiting today! Have a great week!

Still stuggling

I am still struggling when I sit down with  a blank sheet of paper. I might start with a coat of paint but then don't know where to go. Or I seem to always do the same things. I found this photo on Umwowstudio

So I was inspired and did this

I really need to remember this quote. I need to stop thinking so much and just get to work. I even used my fingers on this!

Thanks UMWOW for the inspiration. Thank you also for stopping by!

Monday Inspiration!

Time for another PCC Monday Inspiration!

I decided to make a little picnic invite and took the inspiration very literally.

I pulled out some neglected sequins for the seeds.

Storage

I love looking at garage sales for items I can repurpose for storage for my craft supplies.

I found this wood box with handles and it was just calling to me.
I knew I had to change the colors so I got out my Americana paints by Deco Art Inc  and thought about how to alter it. I drew my inspiration from Tracy and her flowers.

I love having inspirational storage. It helps me when I craft!

Watercolors

I started attending an art class. The class is officially over but there are a group of people who meet weekly to paint and there is an expert there to help us as needed. I was inspired by  the projects a classmate done similar to this so found one of my own to try.

This is my inspriation

And here is my piece

I am learning all about how to build layers and use color! I am pretty proud of myself!

The wedding is over so.....

The wedding is over so now I can try to get caught up. Have some projects calling me!

This one was an art journal page for a traveling journal. I hope the person doesn't read my blog:)

I think I used everything but the kitchen sink!
