Memorable Seasons Sketch a Thon
It is my turn to post another sketch for the Memorable Seasons Sketch A Thon! We have had a busy month with a wide variety of sketches. It is so much fun to see how everyone interprets them!
Today I chose a page Maps sketch!
During Christmas break, our family attended Cirque de noel at the Symphony. It was a fun night in the pouring rain walking to 3 different restaurants to find one with seating, watching my son's fearful glances as we sat in the front row of the balconey and seeing the great acts.
Today I chose a page Maps sketch!
And here is my layout

Creative Jumpstart
I have been following Creative Jumpstart all month! Nathalie Kalbach organized the most wonderful and inspiring men and women to show us ways to get those creative juices flowing. There are videos of techniques and ideas or prompts to get us going. I have found each and every one truly inspiring and have been trying some of them.
Today there were three techniques from Dina Wakely - how to stamp on tissue paper to add to your journal or canvas, how to use watercolor crayons on your stamps and how to do a resist for pan pastels. I was so inspired that I quick grabbed my art journal before work and tried two of these techniques.
I tired the resist on the blue and red butterflies and applied the black tissue butterfly over those. I worked with 30 year old pastels which are probably not as good as Panpastels but they worked for now.
I am so happy to be learning so many new techniques!! I am very thankful to Nathalie and all of the presenters at Creative Jumpstart!

Make Today Count
According to the most recent statistics ---- 1 out of every 8 women will get breast cancer.
That pretty much means it will hit one of our friends and/or family.
I have had breast cancer not ONCE but TWICE. The first time was in 1994 and the second in 1997. I know technology and the medical field has made tremendous advances since I went through this but that does not make it any less horrifying.
An online friend of mine, Cheryl Waters , had breast cancer surgery on Monday. I know many people have lifted her with thoughts and prayers. Cheryl is a former Lead Fiskateer and is a wonderful artist. Here is a link to her website Artsyfindings. Cheryl is determined to Make Each Day Count. I saw on Liz Hick's blog the opportunity to take a print and alter it. The idea being to shower Cheryl with virtual art. I took on the challenge :) Here is my watercolor page for Cheryl. I printed Liz's Make Today Count on tissue paper and gessoed it to watercolor paper. Then I started playing - paint, stamps, ink, doodling-- yes even that!
I just want to remind Cheryl that she is not alone on this journey! Her faith, family and friends will get her through. And, this reminds all of us to MAKE TODAY COUNT!!!

Using up my Memorable Seasons DT kit. Crate Paper on Trend is not just for girls:)
The ribbon is red not pink as it looks here. I also have to go back and straighten the bottom ribbon. Was trying to get this posted before work:)

Creative Jumpstart
I have been following along with Creative Jumpstart on Natalie Kalback's blog.
In the first video she altered double sided tape using embossing powder. I used that technique on a card I made.
These are amazing videos from some amazing artists!
