What did we learn today?

So today Sandee was using her Moldable Foam Stamps to create part of her journal page. I also have those  but had not opened them yet. I found a wickery baskte, heated up the foam and made my stamp. I then drew a cofee cup and painted using water colors and my Koi pen also available at Frosted Designs

I used water colors for the background. I grabbed a pen and proceeded to write my quote only to have it run all over. So I cut out the cup and bottom part and modge podged it to a new page. I redid the quote and when I painted the background it smeared! Oh well, I am leaving it!

New Stamps

I won some new stamps from Visible Image and was excited to use them for thank you cards. I added watercolors to the stamped images..

I love how these turned out!

Traditions

We started traditions when the kids were little -- cutting our Christmas tree, dated ornaments, coloring Easter eggs, etc. Now at 25 and 30, it is just so difficult to let those traditions go. Last year, Jen didn't get here from Phoenix until the 22nd. No problem. We would go cut a tree on Saturday before Christmas. Who would have ever thought the tree farm would be closed the Saturday before Christmas?!? This year, Mike thought he and I should get the tree but not decorate it until the kids were here. We started to go but could not do it. Instead he walked around our 3 acres and found a tall kind of Charlie brown tree that would work. Jen's fiance got in at noon on Saturday and by 2 pm we were all loaded in the car for the tree hunt. The boys stuffed their pockets with beer for the long hike, inevitable fight over which tree, etc. We drove around the block and then Mike pulled in just past our driveway. Our son guessed that we chopped a tree down but put it outside. Nope!  We lead them back into the yard where we cut down our tree. It took less than 5 minutes! They were laughing  But mom is happy because  the TRADITION LIVES!!!!

A Mother Holds

My son is a big guy over 6 feet. We have compared feet - his are size 13 - 14 and one day a few years ago, I held my hand up to his. Last year he bought a frame to make which included clay for a a paw print of the dog. There were leftovers so I encouraged him to do his hand print. I knew eventually I would use it somehow. Yesterday I finally scrapped it. Pulled out some of the new Teresa Collins papers I won.

Dr. Marmo

The challenge at My Scraps and More was to scrap a photo at least 2 years old. I dug one out from 1986! In it Jen was practicing her writing and she was just 3. That determination and perseverance continued and we were so proud when she got her PhD in 2012 - the second photo.

Our Family is Growing

Our family is growing but not like you would think. Our daughter was engaged in October so we have a soon to be son in law. And our son has been dating a girl for over a year and we expect them to take the next step this year.

This photo was taken immediately after Shawn proposed. We stopped someone in town and asked if they would take our picture. We are so happy for our kids!

Entering this in Party Time Tuesday's Color challenge! And adding it to Life Paper Scrapbook Mood board challenge

One Little Word

So everyone.... is choosing their one little word for the year. Last year I decided on confidence. Not sure if I truly embraced it, but I did try. This year my word is RESOLVE. Using it to mean firm determination, I want to try to leave doubt behind and create with determination. I wanted a road map to show where I am heading. The streets have names such as courage, steadfastness and intention. And all roads lead to resolve!!

Many thanks to Mary Nasser and this stencil I won from her blog hop!!

Adding this to our Mixed Media Mondays and Tracy's January Creative Dare!

I am up at Frosted Designs!

I am up at Frosted Designs with a Shadow Box Frame I made using this month's kit!

Beth and Rob looked so cute on Christmas eve and I loved that they each had red on! This kit has such wonderful papers and embellies. I made a mini scrap layout inside the frame and added embllies to the outside. I even used the Distress Glitter to add shine!

Head on over to the store to check it out!

Queen for a Day

Apparently some of my friends have too much time on their hands!

In fact Sandee has  declared 2014 a Royal year and is having a crown party! So don't be jealous but here is my crown. It has jewels to die for! And even some feathers. Alas, there is no glitter!
