Welcome to the Fiskafriends Blog Hop. Who are we and what are we about? Here is a bit of background.

History: In 2006, Fiskars created Fiskateers.com - which consisted of a blog, forums and gallery.  As people joined the community, they were consecutively assigned identifying numbers, added to their online user names. In fact Fiskars sent everyone a pair of scissors with their number on it. I am # 7358 A vibrant, close-knit creative community evolved from this event.  Membership was required to view the gallery and forums and participate in the Fiskateer events. In December of 2013, Fiskars closed the forums and gallery.

Who We Are: Over 140 numbered Fiskateers wanted to maintain the community they cherished, and so the Fiskafriends Facebook group was created.  For privacy reasons, the group FB status is secret, however any numbered Fiskateer is welcome to join the group. 

March 27th-29th, we are celebrating our First Anniversary with a Fiskafriend Blog Hop.  You do not have to be a Fiskafriend to visit and comment on our bloggers' posts. This hop is open to everyone! International visitors included! The theme of the hop is Anything Goes, so be prepared to find a variety of creative projects and ideas. 

Giveaway prizes?  Of course! Everyone loves a giveaway! We will have an end of the hop giveaway with fabulous prizes. In addition to the end of the hop giveaway, some of our bloggers are offering giveaway prizes of their own on their posts.

It has been a busy two years for my family. In October 2013, my daughter was engaged. Our son followed with his engagement in February of 2014. In September 2014 Jennifer was married and this June will be Rob's wedding.

You can imagine what I have been working on!! I thought I would share some of these projects with you.

In June we had a lovely shower for Jennifer and I was happy to make decorations!

Jennifer, her dad and I made the favors for her wedding. It was a sweet little bottle which we filled with thyme grown in our garden. Each bottle had two tags - one which said "Thank you for spending this thyme with us" and the other with their names and the date. We made 150 of them!

Of course, I did manage to make a layout of this!

The photographer took over 1700 photos which I have also started scrapping!

My son has started the preparations for his wedding! I was allowed along as they picked out their tuxes!!

And the shower will be at my house in April and I have begun those decorations!

Wedding Shower Prep

I have been busy creating items for the wedding shower I am hosting for my son's fiance. The wedding is less than 90 days away!!

I made this mixed media canvas. I had great difficulty finding robin's egg blue in my stash but managed to get this made. .

90 Days

90 Days and counting until Rob and Beth's wedding! I know because the wedding invitations went out!!! I had to scrap mine ( well actually for this layout, I made a quick copy of it. I only have one and want to save it).

Adding this to Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Birds of a feather.I used gesso for stamping, texture paste with a stencil and lots of stamps.

Just found this challenge at  NBUS. It is about using up your stash! I am all in for that!! I have had the frame which the numbers are in and the bird house for several years. The tags and most of the flowers have been in my stash for some time. Glad I finally used them.

Jaxson's Magic Carpet

When Jen married Shawn she added a dog and two cats to her life! Jaxson is a Min Pin who is a bundle of delight. He rushes outside and after scoping things out, settles down on his rug. Jen and Shawn refer to it as his Magic Carpet.

  I used a piece of brown textury fabric for my carpet.  I added sparkle paste for the clouds. Stencils and stamps were used on the background. I stamped the paper and fabric and added gold paint stamping as well.

Vacation

We recently spent a week in Phoenix visiting our daughter and her husband( still sounds funny to say that). Our son and his fiance joined us at the end of the week. We love hanging out with the four of them!

I decided to use maps and globes for the circles. Yes - that is indeed my passport from 1967!!

I used my stencils from Mary Nasser and modeling paste! G45 Come Away With Me was the perfect collection to use!

Happy Birthday Mom

In February, my mom turned 87. She and my sister spend the summer feeding and enjoying hummingbirds. She also enjoys growing strawberries in a pot on her deck. So when I saw a strawberry hummingbird feeder that can attach to the window, I knew it was the perfect present. She was just delighted!

I am entering this in the Scrapourstash STENCIL challenge. My items are
S- stencil (painted hearts), t- tape with words, e - embellishments, n - numbers, c - cluster, i - inked edges, l - lace.

Tried something new

I made this thank you card and used emboossing powder for the image. Then I colored using Koi Watercolor Brushes.

Sorry for the less than perfect photo. Took it late at night. I like how it turned out.

Sparks

I love it when the creative sparks fly and a layout comes together quickly. Usually for me that is not the case!!

I started with Myscrapsandmoresketch

And all of a sudden I knew which photos I needed to scrap! It would be the sparkler ones from Jen and Shawn's wedding!!

Was in Phoenix last week so was expecting a shock when we returned to Michigan. Well, we got one. It was sunny and warmer today than it has been in  a very long while!! Maybe spring will come eventually!!
