Artprize Round 2

So we spent the morning touring Artprize. Can I say again how amazing. The sidewalks were overflowing with people. Yes - there are currently lots of strange animals roaming the city!! We saw a bird, a fish and even a dinosaur!! And the river was home to a herd of horses and a school of fish! Paintings were in abundance as were collages. The red painting in the left corner of the bottom set of photos was done by the mother of my daughter's friend from high school. How cool to see her work displayed.  Such an amazing event for this city!!

Artprize

It is Artprize time! Grand Rapids is again hosting over 1700 works of art in and around the city!!

Artprize

This amazing event allows us to wander and explore and view art that we may have never seen before. The crowds in the city are wonderful to see.

So far I have only spent time in the Art Museum and here are some of the works that caught my attention. We love spending several days wandering around the city seeing the different types of works. The public votes and there is a prize for that. There are also juried prizes from art experts.

I had this thought to use washi tape and my dot circle punch. This is one of the quickest layouts I have ever done!

I must say I am finally almost out of the Sweetest thing collection that I won from Twopeas! I will be sad when I have no more.

My take

A cute pic of Jen from this summer.

I have coffee filter flowers, hexagons, differing alphas for title and wood hearts.
I used the hexagon cutout piece to stencil and color some shapes.

Outside my back door

We live in a fairly rural area with lots of turkeys, deer, rabbits, etc. making their homes in the woods behind our house. For the past several weeks, I have enjoyed watching these guys!  There are three of them!!

Here is my take on it. My fall layout was inspired by my love for my son who continues to humor me by carrying on traditions that they think they are too old for. Fall - flags, arrows, LilyBee and lots of paint:)

This is a great sketch which I will use again!

An evening's Work!!!

I was inspired by Dinae Kaufman's tray on Pinterest

I had gotten this shelf at Goodwill for $2.99.

I wanted to and did remove the top part with the heart. I thought I could use this like one of those trays...

I painted it black then proceeded to glue papers on the back. Or so I thought -- no, I accidentally glued them on the front:( So I peeled them off and washed the mod podge off creating a sort of weathered look WHICH I LOVE! I used black and white photos all from the 4th of July week.

I reglued the papers and then added photos and embellies.
