Wood Blocks

I had made my granddaughter sets of dog and cat blocks with the words and photos of their pets. My daughter wanted me to make a set of Lauren blocks too.

I purchased 2 x 2 blocks and covered them with G45 Precious Memories. I spelled out her name and then added various photos of her from her first year.

I apologize in advance for the freaky photos but I am abiding by my daughter's wishes to not show the baby's face on line.

She has played with the dog and cat blocks for months getting excited when she sees the photos so I am hoping these will be also be fun for her to play with as well.

I am adding this to CraftersCastle Challenge #4. It is an anything goes dimensional challenge.

Thank you for visiting and for your kind words. I truly appreciate them!

If you want to see some amazing artwork, you should check out PaintPartyFriday! I love seeing what everyone is working on! So many talented artists!

I am getting ready for a show/sale with the local art group in May. I have kind of veered away from my mixed media canvases and started playing with watercolor cards. Cards are usually good sellers. Here are a few I have done.

I am still learning! I have to make myself walk away after I get a layer painted or else I tend to play with it and mess it up. I also have to wait to add the pen because otherwise it bleeds. I hope I can continue to improve as I make more of these.

Thank you PaintPartyFriday for the weekly inspiration!

Paint Party Friday

So today I am painting something a little different. I bought wood bangle bracelets and am painting them.

I am using a mix of stamps and stencils, paint, paper, decopage. these are the first few that I did. I did fix the black and white one so there were no jagged tape lines. I hope to make a variety of them for an upcoming art show!

Thanks for visiting and for your kind words! I truly appreciate them!

Thank you

When I win a prize, I like to send a thank you card to the manufacturer or person who posted the giveaway. I always use the product I won to make that card. This is a thank you card to Altenew for stamps that I won. I kept it simple and like the result.

I have been away babysitting my 11 month old granddaughter. I bring art supplies with me but after chasing her all day and finally sitting down at 8 pm, I am often too tired to create!

I did manage to finish this ATC. This is for Grumbacher's ATC exchange. The theme is Fly. I have been flying every month and this is the view out the window.

A Mother is Born

My daughter is an amazing woman. She has always been career driven and is currently in an exciting position at the Department of Education for the State of Arizona. However, I have watched all that change since Lauren was born in April. My daughter was born to be a mom. I enjoy watching as she nurtures, plays with and loves this little being.

One of my most prized posessions is  a necklace Jennifer bought for me when she was in middle school. It is a gold filigree heart that reads mommy. She saw it in Kmart in August and told my husband he had to get it for me for Christmas. So he did. I wore that every day since until April 1st when Lauren was born. Then I gifted it to my daughter who now proudly wears it. I knew she would be a wonderful mom but the bond she and her daughter have is truly special. I hope it will always be like the one my daughter and I have.

Of course, Lauren loves to play with the necklace too!

I used this sketch from SketchnScrap

Here is my layout

(The baby's face is blurred per her mother's wishes not to have her photo posted on line. Thank you for understanding)

SimpleStories Romance was the perfect collection for this!

Precious Angel

I am finally getting to work scrapping some of the photos I have taken in the past few weeks. I have more photos than I can ever scrap but I will give it a try!

Saw this sketch over at Stucksketches

Grabbed some gorgeous G45 papers and went shabby chic which is so out of my box!

Again, I have blurred my granddaughter's gorgeous face per my daughter's wishes not to have her photos out there on line. This was a fun layout to do!

Thanks for visiting and for your kind words. They brighten my day!

Paint Party Friday

Brrrr..... it is a very cold Friday here. I even did 2 hours of playground duty outside in the 7 degree wind chill.

Luckily I had done this little painting before heading out. This was inspired by a painting I saw on Pinterest. Love the sketchy feel to this. I want to practice more of these doggies and kitties.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend!

The Magic of Christmas

We got to spend Christmas with our 9 month old granddaughter! Granted she had no idea what was going on but we had such fun anyway. She did love the tree and was grabbing anything she could!

I used this sketch from Stucksketches

Instead of more photos, I made a cluster in the middle.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you also enjoyed the magic of Christmas with family and friends!!

Happy New Year

I think the sickie germs are finally leaving the house! We may just get over it yet!

Because of the germs and the extreme cold, I have not ventured too far from the house. This has given me time to clean up, organize and play. As I have said before, I have no formal artists training. I also tend to jump from one thing to the next. As a result, I don't take the time to properly learn or practice. So this year I am trying to find my niche. Trying to practice and grow.

I did this yesterday. I am trying to go lighter. To wait for the paint to dry. To use less paint. To learn what the brush does.

I was pleased with this and look forward to creating more!

Thank you for visiting. I appreciate your kind words more than you know!

Mixed Media Canvas

I am so happy to be a part of this month's blog hop between Helmar Adhesives and Rinea Paper!

If you have never tried Rinea paper - it is made of two layers of aluminum foil with paper in between. There are so many ways to use it. I had fun die cutting and hand cutting it for this mixed media canvas

I would love for you to visit me over at Helmar to see the finished projects as well as the steps I took to make it!

Thank you for joining me today!

Wishing each you of a creative Happy new Year!
