Radiant Faces

I was lucky enough to win a seat in Effy Wild's Radiant Faces Class. It is 9 lessons from 9 wonderful artists all doing faces in their own style! At first, I was scared to death that this was so far above my talents or skills. However, I accomplished all 9 and fell in LOVE with some of the styles and felt I did them proud!

Here is my version of Joanne Sharpe's lesson. I need more practice doodling but I adore this.
And, the Koi Coloring Brush Pens that I won from MaryBeth Shaw were perfect for this!!

Here is my version of Julie Gibbon's lesson. So much fun!

And Dina Wakely's - such a different style.

I know I will continue playing and practicing with faces!!

2014 Ornament

For the past 10 or so years, I have been making ornaments. It started when my husband hosted a Christmas party for the managers who reported to him. I made over 50 to give away. Then each year it continued, although now I only make about 15 or so. I have painted wooden shapes, made paper ornaments, and used fabric. This year I tried Sculpy Clay. I stamped an image on one side and a Bible verse on the other. I finished each with beads strung on wire and tied to a ribbon. I think they came out quite good!

Merry Christmas

This year Christmas is different! My daughter and her husband are on their honeymoon in the Dominican Republic! My son is spending today with his fiance and her mom and sister. We celebrated Christmas with the two of them last night. So today, it is DH, the dog and I. The gifts have been opened, the mess sort of cleaned up and the parade is on tv. But something is lacking - the laughter and fun of being with the kids. As a parent you hope for your children to grow up and become successful - to have good jobs and homes and a special someone to share that with. I am happy to say that both of my children have done this and I am so proud of them. However, there are moments when I miss the old days:)

Merry Christmas  to friends and family near and far!

Albums

Every year since each of my children has been born, I have bought them a dated ornament for Christmas. The idea was that when they own their own homes, they will have a collection of ornaments for their trees. I am pleased to say both own homes and now have a box of ornaments. I kept a handwritten list but decided to make an album with pictures of each ornament.

Our tree is going to look very different this year without these ornaments!!

I have been playing along with Tracy  for some time now. On Monday nights Tracy hosts a Mixed Media show. She uses a variety of mediums and creates canvases or art journal pages. The October/November creative dare was to create a piece inspired by a Monday Mixed Media show.

Here is Tracy's piece from 11/3

ANd here is mine

I chose to make my flower hearts our of book paper. I haven't done a journal page like this in a bit so this was fun!!!

Here is my card

Would love for you to stop by their blog SketchNScrap and play along!

Scrapping!

It has been two weeks since I got my new knee! While I am doing quite well, the mojo and stamina has been lacking. But, yesterday  I managed to complete a layout!!

I used this sketch from Stucksketches

And I was inpsired by this photo from CreatvieEmbellishments

Here is my layout. I love the warm autumn colors and tried to pull them out in the cluster. I am so thankful that each of my children has found the person they  want to spend the rest of their lives with. In Oct. 2013 my daughter got engaged. In Fed 2014 my son did. In sept. 2014 my daughter got married and my son will be married next  June. I went with them as they got their engagement photos and this is one of the ones I took.
This was one of Rob and Beth's engagement photos! Love the door background!

DCWV Spiced  Cider Stack! Have a CE circle punched out element.

Grateful

We are very grateful that our future daughter in law has invited us over for Thanksgiving at my son's house! BY then it will be almost 4 weeks with my new knee so I should be able to cook a whole meal but it will be nice not to have to.

I was inspired by this mood board over at SWAT

I made this canvas to take to her as a thank you.  Paint and paper and stencils and fun! A little bit of everything! The picture really doesn't do it justice!

Also adding this to Scrapitgirl paint challenge.
And submitting it to SimplyCreatetoo Thanksgiving challenge!

Blessed

I have been blessed to have people bring us meals now that I am home from the hospital with my new knee. And while I don't feel up to doing much, I think I need to start making Thank you cards.

I saw this sketch over at Atlantichearts
Here is my take on it

Toot TooT!!

I love getting a magazine in the mail and seeing one of my layouts inside! It is such a special feeling!

I was honored to have a layout chosen for Scrapbooking Memories - an Australian magazine.

It was a layout of my twin  sister, Jane, and I circa 1954. The background was layers of washi tape and paper strips colored over with gesso.

Thanks for checking out my latest publishing!!
