Playing

I had a few minutes last night to just play. I thought of Carolyn Dube's recent challenge to use something you would throw away. I had rubons which were so old I should have thrown them away long ago. For some reason I held on to them even though every time I tried to use them I got nothing. I had a journal background which I had started but then left not knowing how to finish it. This challenge was just the spark to get me going. Those old rubons matched perfectly. I used some medium to adhere them. I also cut out an old magazine ad which was also destined for the recycle bin.

So here is my project

Thank you Carolyn for your inspiration!

Thank you for visiting! I hope you get some time to play!

Winter Blues

Do you have the winter blues? Cold and snowed in? Ready for some sun?

I decided to go with the blues today for a project over at Arnold Grummer's Papermaking!

I made a card using handmade paper as well as a paper casting. What is a paper casting? It is a molded paper embellishment.

And my card ? Well, here is a sneak! You have to head over to Arnold Grmmer's Papermaking to see the rest!

Thank you for visiting!

Canvas Corp Brands

Happy Sunday evening! In between watching football, I am crafting!

I am so happy to share that I will be working with Canvas Corp Brands as a Design Team Member. Canvas Corp Brands include 7Gypsies, Tattered Angels, and Canvas Home Basics. The products are perfect for Mixed Media, Scrapbooking, DIY as well as those of us who want to work with unique projects such as aprons, totes, shadowboxes and burlap!

We will be working with different teams throughout the year to provide you with inspiration. I cannot announce which team I am on  just yet, but I do have a canvas project to share with you. Each designer was asked to create a piece using a 4 x 4 Stretched Natural Canvas. In it is chilly and cold
(and even snowy in many places) but the High Impact Paint in Wheat was calling to me. It reminded me of a warm sunny day. The Pink Paradise Glimmer Glaze begged to be used as well. I applied a layer of gesso randomly using a piece of Punchinella as a stencil. I  arbitrarily applied the High Impact Wheat paint and followed with stamping using the Glitter Glaze. The embellishments were also painted or stamped. In some cases, I wiped off some of the color to achieve lighter tones. I layered a doily, lace, and paper from the 7Gypsies Wanderlust collection. My clusters include flowers from Prima and Michaels, as well as chipboard from my stash. I saw the quote in the pad of paper and felt that those words were speaking to me.

High Impact Paint - WheatGlimmer Glaze Paint - Paradise PinkWanderlust 8x8 Paper Pad (48 Sheets)

Don't you love the colors of my finished canvas?

The quote says "Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE. The word itself says "I'm Possible"!

I am honored to have this opportunity and look forward to sharing many more fun projects from Canvas Corp Brands!

Thank you so much for visiting! I would love to have you follow or sign up for my emails!

Let's Play

I am joining Carloyn Dube this month with her Let's Play! This month's theme is to use something you would have thrown out. I saved this mailing envelope I received and this was the perfect way to use it!

I dusted off my Gelli plates. Grabbed some bright paints and a few stencils and here is my finished envelope. I might be able to use it to send back to someone!

I had a cutout bird and branch so used those for one of my layers. I love that you can see the outline!
Thanks Carolyn for a wonderful challenge!!

Scrapping Again

I am very happy to be a Design Team member for Canvas Corp Brands.  This month Canvas Corp  has teamed up with Words and Paintery Challenge Blog. Here is the challenge -

How would you be inspired by these words and colors?

I used a sketch from StuckSketches

I chose to complete a layout of my daughter's recent new job. She is currently a program Dean at the University of Phoenix. Her drive and determination have taken her on a path of successes which has led her to this job. After this, who knows what she will do. We are so proud of her!

(My apologies - my printer was doing something weird and I could not get a good quality photo to print)

I had fun with my  Wanderlust Paper Pad and Metallic Glimmer Mists.
Wanderlust 8x8 Paper Pad (48 Sheets)Glimmer Mist Starter Kit - Metallic

Additional products include Tim Holtz Clockwork Stencil, Finnabair Art Basics Heavy Gesso (black), Flowers from Prima and Petaloo, Fiskars Punch, American Crafts This to That Adhesive Dots and Therm O Web Memory Tape Runner.

Thank you for visiting and I hope you take part in this challenge!

ADORNit

I just love Adornit Paintables! The designs are outstanding and such fun to paint, color, etc.

I was happy to join their Facebook Coloring Contest. They sent me several paintables which I could use for a project of my choice. Here is their photo of the Paintables.

And, here is my project:

Once I finished painting, I decided to cut out the Jar image. I made a gift bag from a piece of October Afternoon Scrapbook paper. I added more flowers and trims. My sister will love this when I add her birthday present and give it to her in a few weeks.

Here is a close up of the image. I used three different paints - Twinkling H2os, Magicals and Pearlescent Watercolors - which give it a lovely sparkle.

I want to thank ADORNit for this opportunity! Thank you for visiting!

I Scrapped

I scrapped! Finally finished a layout. I love this paper and wanted to let the words tell the story.

I used Christmas photos which I printed in black and white except for the last one.

I clustered flowers and embellies to match.

Valentine's Decor

I hope you will stop by Arnold Grummer's Papermaking today to see the Valentine's Day home decor project I made. I recycled Christmas wrapping paper into Valentine's day hearts! And was able to embellish with flowers from our garden which I dried at the end of the summer.

I used two products from Arnold Grummer's Website:
The Hand Pour Mold -
Medium Pour Handmold Contents
and the Garden Press -
Flower & Garden Press

Both are easy to use and I love being able to recycle paper such as gift wrap!

Now here is a sneak of my project!

Please visit Arnold Grummer's Papermaking to see the entire project!! And stop by the Arnold Grummer Website for information to purchase these products so you can start your paper making journey!!

Shaker Card

So I thought I would jump on the Shaker Card bandwagon. They can't be that hard to make. Wrong! Well, maybe they aren't that hard to make but mine would not stay glued together! Each time I picked it up my shakers fell out:) After trying a few different adhesives, I think I have succeeded! I better tell the recipient to check the envelope in case I am wrong.

I am using PCCs Week 128 Magazine Monday inspiration!

Here is my card. I was inspired by the confetti, the ribbon and the black.

Thanks for stopping by! You can also join in on the challenge at PCC!

Happy New Year!

The holidays are over - all except taking down the decorations! That might happen today.

We enjoyed having our daughter here from Phoenix and love when both kids and their spouses are here.

Now that the house is quiet again, it is time to start scrapping and creating! I am in art journal challenge  group - Colour Me Positive  - and the first prompt was gratitude. This quote was part of the inspiration. I decided to try using playing cards which I gessoed and painted before adding the quote.

The second group is Tiare Smith's Just about me and the first challenge was to put our name on a page and use a baby wipe. I chose to decorate the cover of a hardbound book for all of these pages, It was a linen like fabric so didn't go as I planned but I like the end result.

Many people are choosing their word of the year. I decided on Freedom. The freedom to enjoy my art and ignore the nagging voices and doubts. The freedom from fear which holds me back. The freedom to stop comparing myself to others. Here is an art journal page for my word. The balloon flying represents my freedom. My girl is from a paintable page from Adornit .

Stay tuned for scrapping and other projects! Wishing each of you a wonderful New Year!
