Someday

Was time to do a new canvas. I have been scrapping and neglecting my art - canvases and journaling.

I have seen so many pretty flower ones so thought I might try one. The background is dictionary paper  and I just used acrylics for the background colors. I tried a stamp for a flower but did not like it after I stamped it . So out came the gesso and as I was applying it with a brush I realized it was beginning to look like a hydrangea!!!! So I made two more and added stems and leaves! So this is one mistake that turned into something beautiful:) I am actually quite proud of myself!

The Week That Was

I don't do a project life.  Since it is just the two of us and the dog, it would be rather boring. But, I was asked to complete something for Memorable Seasons so I journaled all about a rather eventful week. I used Fancy Pants Trendsetter and their envelopes - both clasp and tissue were just perfect to hold my journaling tags!

Going to the Dark Side

Last week Tracy went to the dark side and attempted a grungier look. I remembered that I had this fun G45 so thought I would try using it. I used watercolor paper and the background is watercolor which I let run, splatted, stamped, etc. To me it looks like the hand is winding up the man and letting him go so I found a quote

In the process of letting go you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself.

I am trying to finish my Christmas album and am using any and all sketches I can find!

Was perfect for this year's tree transformation. If you read my tree hunt post, you know that we did not have many options for choosing a tree. But this guy turned out pretty good anyway!

Christmas Eve Hike

I completed this layout for Sketch Challenge Tuesday at the Memory Nest using a pagemaps sketch

Here is my layout. I always save the little strips from the bottom of the papers so I used them for the frame. Chrstmas eve morning Mike, Jen, the dog and I took a hike in the park. It was cold but we enjoyed it anyway.

Snow was in the Air

It snowed for much of the day so I was inspired and got to work on my Christmas album. I have had the photos printed and the papers picked out for months. Just did not feel like tackling it, until today! I think I got 7 pages done!

Each year I give my kids a dated ornament. I try to make it meaningful. It is always a big production to present it to them.

 Ever since Jen was little we have gone on a tree hunt and cut our own tree. Last year the gods conspired against me, so this year I was determined to have our annual tree hunt. I must have done something bad because again this year we ran into problems. It was the Saturday before Christmas and the tree farm was closed!?! Really? They had 3 pre cut trees left and sold us one for $20! Yet another memory for the books!!

I chose Teresa Collins papers and just love them! I need to photograph the rest but this is the start!

Are you Ok

We had a ball at Monday's Mixed Media Monday show with Tracy and the word "ok". We might have gotten a tad out of control. So I just had to go there........

Grabbed some paints, different alpha stamps, mist, stencil and texture paste.

I had fun! I hope everyone is OK!!!

Here is a thank you card I made. I used a hexagon design. I added painted alphas and sparkly flowers. This will be going out in the mail tomorrow.

I still make my 24 year old color Easter Eggs. His girlfriend was very excited to learn we would be doing that and jumped right in. They also had an egg war - you bump the egg and hope yours doesn't  crack.

For the longest time, I avoided using Webster's Pages papers! They scared me. But not anymore:) And I completed this layout for their Ribbon and trim challenge. Also used it for Memorable Seasons Sketch Challenge. the sketch is from Pagedrafts.

Happy Birthday

This month over at Memorable Seasons I had the pleasure of playing with Carta Bella's So Noted.

The music paper caught my eye as my mom just had her 85th birthday. So I took the challenge at
Frosted Designs to use scallops. I used my scallop circle punch to make the flowers. I cut the circle into petals which I then scrunched /folded to make petals.

This paper is so elegant! Love it!
