Vacation is almost over

My daughter and her family have been visiting for a week. Tomorrow they fly back to Phoenix and it will be a sad time for all of us.  We will miss chasing our 15 month old granddaughter around.

Last week while we were at the cottage, I got out my watercolors for Lauren to play with. Here is our masterpiece.

Thank you for visiting!

PaintPartyFriday

Here we are at the end of the week again. I have been busy getting ready for my daughter and her family to visit for a week. Have been cleaning and baby proofing!

I have still been playing along with #worldwatercolormonth.

Here is my take on jungle

I think he is kind of cute.

PaintPartyFriday

I have been participating in #WorldWatercolorMonth sponsored by Doodlewash. Each day there is a different prompt and I have been keeping to those themes. I am generally completing smaller pieces just to practice and play. Here are a couple I really like:

Topics were shades of blue, climbing mountains and forest animals. I am still learning about patience with watercolors. I am always rushing instead of waiting for them to dry before moving on.

Hopefully by the end of the month, I will have learned a few things!

Mixed Media Thank you Card

I decided to work some mixed media magic on a card. I started with this sketch from Freshlymadesketches

I stared by applying a layer of gesso followed by paints. I also stamped. I was trying to recreate the look on the pattern paper. I fined by adding a tag and twine. I love the messy look!

Catching up

Time for thank you notes.

I was drawn to this sketch over at SketchnScrap

And here is my card

I used an older 6 x 6 paper pad and a newer Altenew stamp. Love their layered flowers.

Friday

We are back from the cottage where we enjoyed a lovely 4th of July. Lots of family, food, fun. IT was a hot day so we enjoyed the lake immensely.

I did play with the piece I had completed last week. I enjoy adding doodles to my watercolors. It adds that little extra touch. I did realize I did not doodle the blue flower on the left. I will have to add that.  I think this will make a pretty card front.

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful 4th!

Thank you  for stopping by and for your kind words!

Look at what I tried

I have been busy experimenting and playing! Yesterday it was with alcohol inks on glass! After dripping them on, you add alcohol then light it! Of course, I chose a 94 degree day to do this:)

Look at this finished piece! Who knew! I am going to see how it looks in a white frame.

Thanks for checking it out!
