In honor of the 4th

I had this idea in my head. It doesn't always come out as planned but this turned out quite well.

I started with an 8 x 10 canvas and painted stripes. I added a blue area for the stars. I used two of the 2 x 2 canvases and drew stars. I printed out the Star Spangled banner on tissue paper and Modge Podged it. Added some inking and stamping and paint.

I am so not the artistic one in  my family but I LOVE doing these canvases!

To me summer is about memories - making them and preserving them! I did not scrap when my kids were younger but I love going back now and scrapping some of those old photos!

We always enjoyed the weekends spent in our little pop up camper! The kids would help set up, gether firewood and wait for those campfires!!

I have been making a mixed media canvas every month to display in our front hall. I found a calendar at work which had cute pictures of girls and I knew I wanted to use one for this month's canvas.

I saw this picture and thought of my twin sister. I painted the background and used some spackling compound to give the sand texture. I finished the background using stamps, rubons, etc. I printed the quote on tissue paper which I applied with modge podge. I like to do that because then it blends in. I added sea shells that we have collected.

Today we are headed to the Beach House. We need a sign to tell everyone where it is.

I stopped at the Dollar Tree and invested in this sign - yes it was $1.00. I knew all it needed was a little TLC.

Grab those paints, rub ons, and ribbon  and get to work.
Before you know it this is what your sign will look like --

I painted  the lettering and flowers. Added some rubons and then edged the entire sign with yellow paint. I think it is so cute and will look perfect at our cottage!

It would not be summer without a party or barbeque, which means making invitations to hand out!  I used a patriotic paper for the backing and printed the invite on red paper. I inked the edges and made it elegant with a border punch! The pop dot makes the star embellishment stand out. I tied it with a pretty red bow. Now everyone knows about the party on  July 4th at the cottage!

Thank you Marge

We got home from a busy weekend up north to find that Bandit had a present from a good friend of ours. It is a special hat for keeping Bandit cool!  He can use it at the lake!

Had to Scrap it

We were in phoenix in May for my daughter's graduation. As we were heading for lunch one day, we saw this store across the street. We all chuckled at it. A couple of days later, DS, DD and I were wandering around shopping and yes, we went in. It was not as bad as I expected ( not sure what I was expecting):) They sold teas as well as herbs for sleeping, incense, etc. Had to get pics of Rob!!

Well - I did it. I opened the prize I won and used the papers and a button! I made a thank you card for Bazzill.

Sorry - the colors are much prettier. Too dark this morning.

Time for camp!!

Last Scrapper Standing at Memorable Seasons

Memorable Seasons has a contest every year called Last Scrapper Standing.

Memorable Seasons

This week's challenge was to use red, yellow and blue. Since Jen's new bike is red, I thought that would be the perfect subject.
