Growing and Learning

I have a twin sister who got the art and music gene while I got the math and science. For years we clashed - she danced ballet and listen to classical music. I was the social butterfly hanging out going to school events and rocked out to the Monkees and Beatles.

A few years ago, I took a She Art class from Christy Tomlinson. Several of my first canvases were just plain ugly but I kept playing. I found a creative niche in mixed media. I joined several on line groups and began art journaling and playing with the products in my stash. Watercolors were fun but I really could not seem to manipulate them. A few years ago, I took a class at the high school but the teacher did not really help us. This past month I signed up for another class. The teacher is very kind and helpful and has really been encouraging me. Yesterday in class I painted these flowers. My teacher looked at them and then gave me a big hug. She was just so delighted.
Tonight I put my skills to the test to make a get well card for a friend.

I am quite proud of my self. For years I said I was not artistic but maybe I am........

My thanks go to Sandee Setliff and the Mixing It Up and Embrace  Your Art Daily Facebook Groups which I am a part of. I appreciate the feedback and support!!!

Magazine Inspiration

This week is PCC s 98th Monday Magazine Inspiration Challenge!

I chose to focus on the flowers and just played with paint and the end of a a bamboo skewer.

Thanks for the ongoing inspiration PCC!

Another Thank you

My son's fiance took her mom and I to a canvas painting class on Monday as our Mother's Day gift. We had a lovely time and made the best canvas I have done so far at one of these events. I decided to recreate it on a card as a thank you note for the kids. I still need to add my sentiment so it looks a bit plain.

Entering this in SimonsSays Coral Inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps and Paint play

I have been having to make a lot of thank you notes recently. That means I have been winning prizes which is always fun. Lately, just to switch it up,  I have been using paint instead of just  paper. I used these two stamps from Unity and a painted background. I decided to use my Pearlescent paints and begin to fill in the white cloud around her to picturize the quote about coloring thoughts with the bright hues.

I am linking this up with Unity's Friends With Flair.

Adding this to CraftStamper Take It Make It Challenge for May. The challenge is Anything Goes with a stamp.

Linking up to Simonssays Let's Get Sentimental challenge!

Thank you for stopping by and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

New Sketch

It is time for a new sketch and challenge over at My Scraps and More Sketches!

This sketch is by Audrey Yeager.

I decided to scrap a photo from our recent weekend in Chicago. I used a Jillibean Soup Placemat along with G45 Come Away With Me which I have been hoarding:)

This was the view from Chicago 360 which was something like 90 stories up!

Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue was perfect for adhering the Placemat!
Thanks for stopping by!
