Acrylics Class

I spent the last two Saturday mornings attending an acrylics class at the local botanical gardens. The subject was still life. I have never had any lessons in actylics and have never attempted a still life:)

The teacher was the head of the art department at a local community college. He was a very kind and soft spoken gentleman who not only taught but spent time with us individually. I was very nervous but came home feeling pretty proud of the piece I managed to get done. It is by no means done and needs lots more work but I feel more confident in my ability to work with acrylics.

So - here is my masterpiece:):) Now don't laugh. I am most proud of the apple.

This was my view

This was after the first week

And this was after the second. It is not nearly as bright as it shows up here.

Sadly I had to brighten up my apple so it changed color. My vase is way too flat and lots of things still need work.

I did learn a lot and hope to play some more.

Thank you for stopping by. Be sure to visit PaintPartyFriday to see wonderful art inspiration!

  1. Your apple is fantastic Jean!!! You really captured it well! And the flowers on the table, so well done! I admire anyone who sits through a painting class...and anyone who does still life. I am self-taught I guess you can call it. I've tried to paint still life fruits and the result is that they look like they've spent a week in the garbage can lol...I don't know if I'll ever get the hang of it.
