It is Friday - I think

We have made it to another Friday - at least I am pretty sure it is Friday.

We have had an unusual stretch of a couple of warm days which is making it difficult to believe the holidays are right around the corner.

My husband teaches an in person course at a Community College which has now gone to a virtual online class. So looks like we might be heading out west to spend the winter, sooner rather than later. That has left me with a flurry of shopping as I try to finish buying Christmas gifts for my son and his wife. We decided to celebrate Christmas with them during Thanksgiving. I also have lists of items to be packed, notifications to be made, etc.

I did manage to complete a project for my friend. Every year, for probably 6 or 7 years,  I have created a mixed media canvas for her for Christmas. This year I changed it up and painted one. I used watercolor gouache and followed a design I saw on Pinterest. I added names to her stockings.

I also played along with a video tutorial and completed this snowman.

He was a lot of fun.

As I watch the sun rise and we head up north to the cottage and visit my sister, I am thankful that we have stayed safe and healthy. I hope you are all well and hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Camel Ride

My daughter and her family enjoy the Phoenix Zoo several times a month. Adventurous Lauren has now been riding the camel since she turned 3 in April. She will ride every chance she gets. I declined the ride and let her mom go:)

I used this sketch from Stickitdown

It worked will for this large photo.

Thank you for visiting today! When in Phoenix make sure you visit the zoo!

Seasons Changing

Last week here in Michigan, we had 5 days of record temps over 70 degrees. This week it has been in the 40s and once made it to 50. What a difference a few days can make:) Yesterday morning we woke to a hard frost and today we have rain.

The weather makes me feel like the holidays are indeed approaching. Here are a couple of holiday cards I made.

I did get some photos of the frost yesterday. It was so pretty to look at.

I hope each of you is staying healthy and safe. We are doing what we can here but the numbers in Michigan are scary.

Halloween 2020

Despite the craziness of this year, we managed to get in some Halloween fun. In addition to a bounce house for the weekend and a scavenger hunt in the backyard, the kids were able to visit a few houses and got trick or Treating.

Lauren was a wonderful bat and Reilly's vampire costume matched hers.

Inktober

Inktober is a month of drawing or painting inspired by a list of prompts. I tend to make these very quick little pieces and just enjoy doing something different.

Here is my dune, hand, outpost and teeth.

I hope you get to enjoy a fun and relaxing weekend! In Michigan the fall colors have been gorgeous! We were up north last weekend by my sister. Here is some of the color we enjoyed.

Adding this to PaintpartyFriday. I encourage you to stop by the lovely artists and see what they did this week.

Pumpkin Hunting

I convinced my youngest son and his wife to go pumpkin hunting. He agreed as long as we went during the week so it was less crowded and we went someplace that had donuts.

Monday afternoon we went to a local farm and were able to get great pumpkins as well as yummy donuts.

I am so proud that I got this scrapped by Wednesday:)

I was inspired by this sketch over at StickItDown

I got out my Deco Foil Adhesive Pen and my Gold Foil to create a pumpkin on the background. Also used the foil on the alphas.

Next week I will pumpkin hunting with the grandkids out west. So stay tuned for those layouts!

Fall in In the Air

Today the temps are hanging out in the mid 40s and it has rained all week. Fall is definitely in the air in Michigan.

Of course, last Saturday when we had the art show/sale it was 82. I am pleased to report that I had a near record day. I sold tons of cards, a few mixed media canvases and even a couple 9 x 12 watercolor originals. Here is what my set up looked like.

It was Harvest Festival in town and the crowds were out in full force. Our group also had a very good day.

Here is an art journal page.

And a lemon

I also completed a scrapbook layout of my granddaughter who has started ballet.

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words. They brighten my day!

Good Morning

 Good morning! Happy Friday/

First I would like to send my thank you to each and everyone of you who leave comments for me. I truly appreciate all of your kind words. Art was never in my wheel house, but I am slowly feeling like it is something I can do. I even am starting to, dare I say, enjoy it.

This week I was inspired by and totally replicated a painting by a fellow Michigander Mary Bryant Lutzke. I asked her permission and showed her my results. I am actually going to frame this and keep it for me. That is progress:):)

The art sale is tomorrow and I have approximately 48 cards and 10 original paintings about 9 x 12 to sell. The weather is looking amazing  and our town is having a harvest festival so it should be filled with people.

Today I am off to sub at school. Will be helping the little developmental kindergarteners as well as enjoying sunshine outdoors during recess,

Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and healthy!

TGIF

 TGIF!

It has been a busy week as our schools began in person learning and I  was called to help sub on the playground and for delivering lunches to classes. Those couple of hours in the middle of the day really throw my schedule off:) And, I wasn't certain how I would feel about the concerns for health and safety. I have been impressed with our school and feel they are doing everything single thing possible.

I have the art sale next weekend so have been finishing getting cards and pieces ready. Here a couple of the ones I have ready. I do hope the weather cooperates and people come out.

I also have a larger piece around 9 x 12. This fox still needs a little work. I am bringing some pieces that people can purchase to frame themselves.

Wishing you a safe and fun weekend! Stay healthy.

It's the weekend!

It is the weekend and we are at the cottage enjoying a couple of days with friends.

This week I did accomplish a layout as well as some painting.

My 3 1/2 year old granddaughter loves "going to school". She set up an area in her mom's walk in closet. She has a shelf for her shoes, lunchbox, toys, etc. She sits on a step stool and does her "work" She also loves playtime and pretend nap. I had to get her a new backback because the lunch box I got her was too big for her backpacks. She is working on writing her name, knows her alphabet and is counting to almost 30. She will be ready when the day does come to go to school:)

I also worked on more cards and paintings. I like the way this blue/green one came out.

I bought black paper so I could try these metallic paints on it. Here is my vase of flowers.

I also played with spooky trees on very wet paper.

And I made a birthday card for a friend who lives on a lake.

I guess I have been busier than I thought:) Adding this to PaintPartyFriday. Please visit all of the artists who post every week over there.

Thank you for sharing your weekend with me. I appreciate your kind words. Stay safe.

Happy September

Welcome to September! I cannot wait for the cooler temps and changing colors of fall. IT is one of my favorite times of the year.

I tried something new this week and was happy with most of the results. I watched a Youtube from CreationsCeeCee. She does these very loose flowers with doodles. Hers are so lovely and i gave it a go. The first 3 are 9 x 12. On the last one I grabbed a sharpie instead of the Micron so my lines were much darker.  I turned a smaller one into a card. I do like the first one a lot. I need to work on color combos and doodling:):)

It is fun to try something and feel that you are getting the hang of it. What did you try this week?

Congrats!

Congrats! You made it to Friday! At least I think it is Friday:):)

It has been another warm and muggy week here in Michigan but I am happy to see that temps will be more seasonal next week.

In addition to meeting up with friends and playing tennis this week, I have done a fair amount of walking.

My husband teaches at two of the local colleges and has been busy figuring out how classes are going to work next week. He will be doing some in class as well as online.

My family had a good laugh when  we saw this graphic.

I have also been working on cards for the art show at the end of September.

I used a feather to create lines for some simple flower drawings. I added a touch of color.

The next ones were just pen and watercolor.

Still trying to figure out my niche:)

We did spend a few days up north at the cottage last weekend.

We enjoy it at this time of year when things start to slow down as fewer people come to visit.

Thank you for visiting and for your kind words. I hope, where ever you are, that you are staying safe and healthy.
